Description

The chirp software does not list this model, but rather defaults to 5RM. In addition, the software will in no event allow the entry of any type of TX or RX codes, to be used together. It will only allow the entry of either RX or TX codes, but not both together, which is necessary.
Thank You,

I'm converting this to a bug report because it seems like you're reporting a problem and not requesting a new driver. Bug #11525 seems to indicate the AR-5RM already works properly.

Otherwise, I don't quite understand your issue. Are you looking for a tone mode where there are two DTCS codes in use, one for TX and one for RX? If so, you want "Tone" mode of "Cross", DTCS->DTCS in the "Cross mode" column.

This is a rookie mistake I made with chirp when I was first tinkering, you are looking for tone mode cross, once you activate that it will ask you to choose tone(CTCSS) or DTCS, then you can specify the tx / rx codes.

I have an AR-5RM and I am able to input everything fine, I just added a cross tone via CTCSS (tone) and had no issues. Just an issue of understanding how chirp works, no bugs here!

See me attached config for how to pull it off, I added the codes to some MURS channels for example sake, but of course, I never would click the TX button on MURS from a ham radio :)

Sir,For simplex use, I think I understand that tx and rx codes are not used together, but my problem occurred when trying to input these DCS codes for use on a repeater. Please respond.Thank you,S. Repeater or simplex has nothing to do with it at all.

If you want two separate DTCS codes, choose:

  • Tone mode: Cross
  • Cross Mode: DTCS->DTCS
  • DTCS Code: (your transmit code)
  • Rx DTCS Code: (your receive code)

If you're getting an error trying to do the above, you need to attach an image and a debug log per the IssueInstructions you indicated you read. Please review How_To_Report_Issues and attach a debug log showing the error when trying to do the above.
