Description
I wanted to provide a data point on the stability of the AR-5RM, I have tested the following features successfully.
Note: I did clone my radio first before changing anything. My radio is SW version 0.14 hardware v1
*The following things work: *
- adding and removing channels - including airband
- disabling/enabling voice
- disabling/enabling beep
- channel A+B display type
- sound alarm (unchecking actually makes the thing stop screaming! yay!)
- disable FM radio
- key lock
- backlight timer 5 seconds / always on work (didnt test others)
- key auto lock
- vox level (tried on and 1)
- menu quit timer
- auto lock
- roger (on and off) NOTE: there is a third option called 1200 mentioned inside my radio...
What doesn't work
- enable menu Rst (assuming this means reset? if so, unchecking this does not prevent a reset via menu.)
I saw the radio had a warning about being beta, and it seems to be very stable, that's why I took the time to test the features important to me. If I did not test a feature listed it does not mean it doesn't work properly, just that I had no way to test it properly, or do not know how to use it.
Please see included for my CHIRP image I did testing on, and also my debug log.
NOTE: the log file is a zip, I had to rename to .txt to allow it to be uploaded, the log was 3MB after performing my tests prior to compression. I have included the working zip as a file as well.
Hopefully this is helpful!

The experimental flag is actually on the underlying class, of which the 5RM is a subclass. We've had a number of issues with it in the past, which I think are all resolved now. We usually leave the experimental warning until way after the driver has proven itself :)
Sounds like we should list the AR-5RM on the site as "(use 5RM)" so people know they're the same.
It's possible that the 5RM doesn't support the "menu reset" toggle that the underlying UV-17Pro implements, so we can exclude that for the 5RM if it makes sense. Any idea if the OEM software provides that toggle?
