Description

tried 4 radios, 2 cables, 2 com ports. Cannot get image of radio. Error is "radio did not enter ;programming mode after 5 tries." Have tried the other radio types suggested in thread #9821.

process: updated and ran CHIRP
connect download cable to PC and radio. Turned radio on. Selected appropriate download. Got error, cycled power, no change.

Tried to download from a BF888 - success

Tried again with T20, now getting different error (Radio Identification Failed), see 2nd debug log

Hope you can help and it's not just stupidity on my part

The radio is responding, but with an identification string that the driver doesn't like. So I think that means you're not doing anything wrong, but @Jim Unroe will probably have to have a look.

Interestingly, that ident shows up in kyd.py (which hasn't been converted for chirp-next yet), but surely that's a coincidence right?

Are these radios the full-band 16-channel version or are they the 22-channel FRS version?

They are the 16 channel versions

See if this test driver module will successfully read your radios. To test, follow the instructions here: LoadingTestModules

unsuccessful. Updated Chirp, loaded test module from issue#, got error message 'invalid or unsupported module file.'

after a few attempts background changed colour and there was an indication that a test module had loaded (but same module file error every time.)

Still unable to download radio, error is 'radio would not accept program mode after 5 tries.'

My bad. That's what I get for being too confident with the my change and attach it without testing. This one should load.

That all works perfectly well. Thank you very much!

A patch has been submitted. Support will be in the next CHIRP-next build following approval. In the mean time, continue to use the test driver module.
