Description

The ability to lock down the Menu button under the VFO menu would be useful, you can currently only lock out the MR menu button. I was able to lock down the frequencies under VFO but that menu needs to be able to be shut off somehow.

Thomas,

CHIRP does not upload firmware to the radio and thus cannot make arbitrary changes in its basic behavior. Unless there is a flag in the memory image to disable this button, there is nothing we can do. I'll let Jim comment on this as I'm sure he knows if it is possible or not.

Jim, if not, please mark this as Rejected.

Thanks!

Thomas,

CHIRP 'locks' the [MENU] button in the same manner as the OEM software. As you already know, this 'lock' is only effective in MR mode and is bypassed once the user switches the radio to VFO mode.

It is unknown if a flag exists in the memory image to disable the [MENU] button when the UV-5R is in VFO mode. Another solution (and possibly better one) would be to disable the [VFO/MR] button from switching the UV-5R to VFO mode. It is also unknown if a flag exists in the memory image to do this.

So until someone can identify flags in the memory image to do this, there is nothing that can be done. Sorry.

Jim
