Good afternoon,
I just installed the newest version of Chirp-Next today (released 1/10/2025). In the settings, I had selected to have my UV-5R show the frequency on the top line (Mode A) and the Name on second line (Mode B). After uploaded the file to my radio, it only showed the first name in the first field of all of my frequencies. The frequency numbers changed as I went through the channels, but the name never changed -- always shows only the name in the first record.
I reset the settings back to showing the frequency in both Mode A and Mode B, so my .img file will not have where I had changed the "B" line to Name. If you need/want me to re-do it, I can. Just let me know. I tried it twice.
Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

I believe you are misunderstanding what the radio is showing you. The radio cannot show the frequency and name of one channel at the same time. The top is one channel, the bottom is another. Selecting top-frequency, bottom-name just means that whatever channel you have selected on top will display the frequency and whatever channel you select on the bottom will show the name. You have to dial them to be the same channel if you want them to match (press the A/B button). Here's another reference for you, although there are many others.
As this is not a CHIRP bug, I will close it as such, but feel free to reply if I'm misunderstanding your question/concern.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I guess I DID misunderstand. I had watched several YouTube videos that led me to believe that it was possible to see the frequency on line one and the name associated with that frequency on line two. Would certainly be great if you could really do that. I'm guessing "some" radio allow for that kind of "sync-ability", but not the UV-5R.

Yep, lots of higher-quality radios show the name and frequency at the same time, it's just not possible with the UV-5R (and many similar types of radios).
I understand. I suppose that is a lot to expect out an el-cheapo model. But that's OK, it has been a good learning tool. I did recently get a BF-F8HP-Pro to play around with. I have a LOT to learn before I make an investment into a much more expensive radio. One day at a time.

Many people setup their radio this way. What you missed in the video was that you have to manually select the same channel in both display lines to see the name and frequency of a channel at the same time.
