Bug #11739
open
Added by Timothy Riley 6 days ago.
Updated 4 days ago.
Model affected:
Radioddity GA-510
I read the instructions above:
Yes
Description
I know this is well reported but I see in July of 2024 Radioddity reported that the issue was resolved.
1: I have older generation GA-510 that I can program.
2: I have newer generation GA-501 that I still cant program despite the report of this now being supported.
I have done a factory reset on the radio, but when I attempt to download I get an error that states "memory error". This happens on both of the newer gen radios I am trying to bring into service.
I really love these radios but wondering if I should just give up and move onto another product.

I see the error in your debug log. That definitely shouldn't be happening, but I'm not sure what to say about why your radio is reporting an unexpected block. Have you updated the firmware, perhaps? Maybe @Sander van der Wel has an idea as he wrote the driver this is based on.
Just FYI, the original GA-510 and the "new" one are completely different radios internally. They share nothing other than the similar-looking case.

It might be the case that an upload was interrupted before finishing. If you don't have a backup of your radio, you can try to upload the test image from GitHub:
https://github.com/kk7ds/chirp/raw/refs/heads/master/tests/images/Radioddity_GA-510_V2.img (assuming it's the new version of the radio).
Let us know if it worked.
