I just purchased one of these radios and am getting the same error. I cannot get it to upload or download.

I receive the following box: "Error reading data from radio: not the amount of data we want."

I have tried going through resetting the radio, tried adding a couple of channels to memory, nothing seems to work. It definitely is getting communication to the radio - but then it gives the error.

I also tried pulling a couple of "good" configurations and uploading them to the radio, and those didn't work either. Same error.

Went to the Baofeng website and downloaded the software for the UV-5RM Plus radio, installed it, and got communications with it through it. I changed the start screen by downloading an image to it. That was the only change using that software.

After that, I came back to CHIRP and attempted communications, and now it works correctly. Download and upload.

Hope this helps others who have the same problem.
