Description

Generally speaking, I can add frequencies to my channel list on several models. Not that I can transmit on them, but I can certainly monitor. This would include our local forest service 171.474Mhz since hearing about fire information is a good thing.

Also, monitoring and potentially transmitting on GMRS frequencies is blocked. The tidradio utility lets us monitor GMRS. And, on the GMRS models, transmit on them. The current Tidradio H8 version does not let us even monitor.

Can we add the receive freqs to the config?

If you can set one of the channels to receive-only and then capture an image of it, I can have a look. Tell me which channel in the image, of course.

Hello Dan,

attached find the img file for the radio. You will find 171.475 in Channel 1 slot.

I tried to see if i could get a debug log file that meant anything, but it did not log any errors. I do get an error if i try to edit the name of the memory. "Invalid Edit: Frequency 171.475000 is out of supported range"

Ah, I see, it's not a problem setting it to monitor only (i.e. duplex=off) it's a matter of it being out-of-band. Any reason you don't have your radio in unrestricted mode? If you do that, it'll let you use the full range of the radio. Either way, it should (meaning it needs fixing) still let you put things in in ham mode and force them to duplex=off if they're outside the tx range.

Hello Dan,

That fix did the trick. I am able to add a description to that frequency and upload the change. It took and now I get "Forestry" in the display. Yay, team!

Thank you again for the assistance!

Best Regards,

Chris Johnston

Thanks, I queued it for tomorrow anyway as I was able to repro the issues myself, so should be good to go with tomorrow's build.

Once again, you made my friend very happy. She and her boyfriend bought a pair of these things and she just got her license so that’s why it took me a hot minute to get back to you.

Thanks again

Chris
