Description

Hi DEVs

This is a bug i had while trying to download a PX-777.img with CHIRP-NEXT (fully aware that the PX-777 was not tested with the new CHIRP hopping to be of some help with it)

i connected my PX-777 went to radio/download from radio. filled out the port, manufacturer, model and hit OK the progress bar loads communication with the radio seems to function properly (radio light blinks). But once the progress bar is done and the radio information window disappears the img is not loaded to the main programming page. I suspected hardware issues so to confirm proper com port and drivers i downloaded the img of my UV-5R and everything work great.

when i opened the error log i had the following: Exception: Unsupported band limits 0xef for PX-777 submodel 328 - PLEASE REPORT THIS ERROR TO DEVELOPERS!!

This issue has been reported on Bug #11259 over 5 mts ago i replied to the bug with the information that was requested but since its such an old thread decided to start a new bug for it

Can you please update this bug after you reproduce the issue using Help->Report or update a bug? That will give us a solid debug log to go from.

Also, what are the correct band limits of the model you're using?

As requested bty Dan Smith I updated the bug with the HELP function of CHIRP-NEXT

Original issue did not change when downloading the radio once the download is done nothing shows up on the home page debug log says FREQ out of range contact DEVS.

The PX-777 Frequency range as per the label is 136-174 but i can physicaly enter frequencies from 136.000 to 174.975 i curently do not have a second PX-777 with me to confirm if it actualy transmits on that frequency or not.

Can you try with the attached module using these instructions: LoadingTestModules please and report back (with the tool, the same way you just did) please?

Hi Dan,

New file was loaded as per instructions. The download of the radio immage was sucessful. I also quickly tried to upload a programed frequecy with a name and it did upload properly to the radio. I did not try anything fancy with tone and duplex modes.

Do you have a testing procedure to ensure all function work properly? If so i would like to help with the validation of the PX-777 for the NEXT build.

Hi Xavier, thanks for the info.

No real testing procedure. I didn't write this driver initially, so I'm not very familiar with the radio. I would save the image you pulled from the radio without modifications just in case, but otherwise just try to "turn every knob" and see if the radio is happy with it, to the extent you have the patience. I suspect the change with your radio was very minor (looked like a version++ sort of change) so I think it's probably fine.

I'll plan to include this change in the next build, but please do report back with your further findings, good or bad.

Thanks!
