Feature #11371
openCHIRP dark mode on Windows
0%
Description
For some people, Chirp is difficult to use because the screen layout is so bright. Would it be possible to implement a "dark" mode for the display? I am one of those affected by this problem, as would be my children, who also have visual impairment issues. I suspect that I am not the first person to make this request but as it directly affects my ability to use chirp, I thought I would repeat it. Thank you.

On macos at least, CHIRP follows the system and if dark mode is enabled, CHIRP is dark (see example). You didn't mention which platform you run, but I'm guessing Windows? There's a long thread on wxWidgets (the graphical toolkit CHIRP uses to make GUIs on every platform) about how difficult it is going to be to support dark mode on Windows. That likely means we won't have it (on Windows) for quite a while.

Thank you for your response. I should have mentioned that it is indeed Windows 11 Pro with a default system theme of dark. I have not tried it on Mac OS, although I do have a VM available. I understand that technically it may be extremely difficult to do, but if you don't ask, you don't get. :-)
I will consider the request closed, at least for now.
