Description

Just got a new 17 Pro GPS. Tried programming it using current version of Chirp NEXT with an FTDI chip cable but it's not working. The error message is "not the amount of data we want". Any help would be appreciated.

I also have the same message; "not the amount of data we want". Disappointed to see one year later this has not received any help.

This is almost certainly a cabling problem. It's very common for people to not be able to securely attach the K1 connector into these radios which causes them to not transmit or receive (or both) the serial data. Some people have to trim their connector and/or radio to allow it to fully seat. Unless it works with other software and not with chirp (without changing or re-seating the connector) it's almost certainly a connectivity problem.

U have a uv-17 pro GPS and I am unable to reproduce this issue. Like Dan said, if this is working fine on the OEM CPS then you could point to CHIRP being the issue, but mine is working without problems.
