Feature #10949
closedQuansheng UV-K5 - No way to program scan settings.
0%
Description
The UV-5K has two scan banks that can be setup through the vendor provided programming software. Currently, the "Skip" field doesn't allow you to enter anything - it's just empty. Using chirp to program a uv-k5 will result in not being able to scan anything because there is no way to indicate which channels belong to which bank or no bank (skip).

Are you sure? There are 2 places where you can access the Scanlists setting which is used to select which scanlist(s) a memory should be included in. See attached screen captures.
1a. Right-click a channel row
1b. Choose Properties from the drop down list
1c. Select the Extra tab
2a. Click View in menu bar
2b. Enable Show extra fields setting
2c. Use the horizontal scroll bar scroll to scroll the spreadsheet style memory window the right until the Scanlists column appears
Pro tip: By highlighting multiple memory rows prior to step 1a, method 1 allows you to set common settings of more than one memory row at the same time.

You are correct. I didn't notice the extras tab when I was messing about with it - I was using mostly CSV import/export. Thank you. It does look like the extra columns do not get exported to CSV and I'm assuming there's no way to import them through CSV either then? Should I open a new issue for this?

The CSV file is intended to be used for only the settings that are common amongst most radios. The Scanlists setting is not one of these settings.
It is CHIRP's native IMG file that is used to store the full range of settings for a particular radio model.
Should I open a new issue for this?
No

Is there another way to import those extra columns when you have a large list? If not, please consider adding a way to import features that are model specific. manually editing works for small lists but when you get into hundreds of channels it’s too time consuming.

Yep, Jim is right. CSV is the interchange format, the "lowest common denominator". You can import (or copy/paste) from a UV-K5 image to get channels from one radio into others, and doing it that way will copy across the radio-specific settings you're looking for. File->Import works from a .img file, and/or you can just open it and copy/paste from your reference image tab into the tab for another radio. That's what you're looking for right?

I don't already have a UV-K5 radio with the frequencies in them, I have a CSV file.

You know you can set these values for any number of memories at once right? Like if the first 50 memories need to be in one set of scanlist configs you can select all those rows, edit properties on them, change the scanlists and it will apply just that change to all of them at once.

Ok, I can make that work. I thought it would update all the extra settings instead of only the one I make a change to. Thank you.

- Status changed from New to Not a bug
This is covered here, FWIW: https://youtu.be/9UgJjwaXlrY?t=623
So, I'm going to mark this as not-a-bug now since the original request is already implemented and we're squared away on the bulk edits.
