Description
Hoping to be able to program my WOUXUN KG-UVD1P 144/220 MHz HT with CHIRP soon.
Had to download the WOUXUN software from The Main Trading Company to do so for now.
Had to use the software labeled as "KG-UVD1P (use only on units purchased after 2/1/13)**2013-3-21" before it would work.
Posted this request yesterday but forgot to change it from "BUG" to "New Model".
Feel free to delete my earlier posting about this.

With actual Chirp you should be able to download from your radio, I guess.
If that's true please save the image and send it here, if not please send the debug log (see instruction here http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/How_To_Report_Issues#Getting-your-debug-log )
tnx

I am running build CHIRP daily-20130610
I get the following message...
"An error has occurred
Failed to communicate with radio: Radio not responding"
Using the same cable and my Baofeng UV-5R, I can up and download and, yes, I do change the radio make and model before trying.
Also using the same port and cable my KG-UVD1P 144/220 will connect to the earlier mentioned Wouxun software.
I went around and around with Wouxun about not being able to use a computer to program the 144/220 radio. They couldn't help.
I finally found software that worked at the above mentioned Main Trading Company.
"(use only on units purchased after 2/1/13)"
There must have been a change in firmware or hardware around 2/1/13.
The Wouxun software works, but is very limited.
thanks

- File kguvd1new.py kguvd1new.py added
- Status changed from New to In Progress

With your help I'll try do make the necessary mods to support this model.
Please download and save the attached kguvd1new.py file.
From chirp menu "Help", please "Enable developer functions" and then load the file with "File - Load module". (No mods will be made to Chirp, you'll have to repeat load module at every program start)
In "Radio - Download from radio" dialog you should now have another wouxun model "KG-UVD1P New", select it and try downloading from your radio.
This will probably fail with an error like "I can't talk to this model", please report full message and debug log so that i'll have info for the next step.
Should us be so lucky that the download will finish please save the image file and send it.
Please do not even try to upload to radio using this new driver!!

I would like to help, but there was no file attached to your email to download.
Is there a link I can download it from ?
Thanks
Randall
PS: I have no problem sending the radio to someone as long as I get it back. But will not be able to ship before July 08, 2013…

The file can be downloaded from issue page at Chirp site (direct link http://chirp.danplanet.com/attachments/599/kguvd1new.py )
I'm located in italy ... i think it's easier to proceed remotely ;)

Here it is.
I was able to read from the radio with this kguvd1new.py file.

The image seems to have the same structure of ones from previous radio version (pre 2/1/13 I mean).
Please Randal, download from your radio (using the kguvd1new.py as before) and check all memories values and frequency ranges in settings.
I expect everything to be correct, if so you can try to edit memories and then upload back to radio.
I wait for your feedback to incorporate support for this radio in daily version.

Everything looks OK, only difference being instead of a +/- shift, it shows it as a "split". I assume this is because the radio was programed with the above mention Wouxun software and this is the way the Wouxun software works.
I made a couple of edits, added new frequencies in both the 144 and 220 ranges and I was able to upload these to the radio without any problem.
