Description

I have been successful in installing Chirp (Linux) on Chromebook (Chrome OS).
Database lookups work except for repeaters. All inquiries result in no repeaters found.
All other reference databases seem to be working. Is Chirp profile for the TYT TH-UV8000E
on the radar for support? It currently is not listed in the Linux radio dropdown list.

It's listed on the Chirp homepage. Try a download using the "8000" choice from the drop-down list?

Do you have any notes you can share about getting Chirp on Chromebook?

The .tar file loaded fine using terminal.
Just had to unzip and move files to the linux_files folder.
Had to install the Python-suds pkg for reference database to work.
There are several things not working correctly, but it will start, execute, and try to connect to radio.
The USB/Serial activation also works.
I will try the 8000 model now and report back.
My Linux skills are novice. Im an old IBM Mainframe assembler programmer.
There are no TYT 8000 models in model pulldown.
I used the LINUX daily 20210110 .tyar

What you see in my image is all there is.
It will scroll top to bottom, but will not roll up or down.

This is NOT an urgent request, I would just like to get it working
fully on Chrome Linux.

Just FYI: This is Chrome OS build #88 released this week.
Linux 5.4.74 - 10576 (x86-64)

check that you have the driver file:
in the directory where you have Chirp, there should be a subdirectory called chirp/drivers . There you should find th_uv8000.pyc and th_uv8000.py . If these exist, check the permissions. When I removed these from my subdirectory and ran chirp, that model no longer appeared in the drop-down list.

FYI, I grabbed the chirp-daily-20210110.tar.gz and ran chirp from that on linux and it tested fine.

Drivers subfolder of Chirp folder has .py extensions, but no .pyc extension file names.

*ISSUE RESOLVED
I uninstalled everything and re-installed using the "Manual Installation from Source".
I have tested clone up/down, reference databases, and field editing. Everything seems to be working as designed.
This is Chirp on Linux from within Chrome OS on a Lenovo Chromebook Intel Core i3 8gb memory

Thank You so much for your help today. I must have skipped something of typo.*
