Bug #803
closedVX-5R incorrect analog CTCSS tone programmed
100%
Description
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit w/ Gnome Classic session
Program version: daily 2013-04-11
GTK: 2.24.10
PyGTK: 2.24.0
Talking directly to radio through serial port ttyS0, no USB dongling.
Description: there is no evident program error when reading/writing from/to the VX-5R, so no debug log is attached; execution of up- and downloads works nominally. The problem is with the transmit analog CTCSS/PL tone selection. When I select 186.2 Hz on the record for channel 1 (ref. attachments), "Tone" field, and upload to the radio, the radio then instead transmits a 225.7 Hz tone when keyed. When I download that same configuration back into a blank Chirp file, the same 186.2 Hz selection is still displayed in the channel record. I can then, from the front panel of the radio, manually change the PL tx tone setting for this channel from the radio-displayed 225.7 Hz down to 186.2 Hz. The radio was then confirmed by independent means to be transmitting the correct 186.2 Hz tone (via repeater keyup) so the radio is transmitting the PL tone that its front panel says it is transmitting. I then downloaded this manual configuration into a new chirp img file, and found that the new chirp record then displays 171.3 Hz for a setup for which the radio is txing 186.2.
On the attachments, the "bad" file is the initial setup that yielded an actual transmitted PL tone of 225.7. The non-"bad" file has the settings that make the radio transmit the 186.2 PL.
