Description

I couldn't find the BF888s on the CHIRP list when trying to program my new radios. I tried the 2 choices that were on the Baofeng pull-down menu but neiter worked. I am willing to loan my radio if needed to engineer the program. I have 12 that I need to get into service but the program that came with the cable didn't work either.

Just received 6 Baofeng BF-888s -- I am using the most recent Chirp update of 20160201. Four of the 6 program both the Memories and the Settings changes with no problem. Two of the radios only load changes to Memories but not to Settings. The error code reads "Failed to send block to radio at 02b0. I had turned off (unchecked the boxes for) 'Voice prompt' and 'Scan'. I find that if I turn off 'Voice prompt' only then no error is reported and the change is made in the radio. I then attempted to turn off 'Scan' and the same error code appeared and the 'Scan' box still shows checked when the radio is read again. I then tried to re-enable 'Voice prompt' but now the "Failed to send ..." message appears once again. I have not discovered any way to turn the voice prompt back on. There is no difference detectable between the ID stickers found on the back of the radios (with batteries removed)- both have round red stickers with a white letter 'K'.
