Description

I'm unable to download from the radio. I get "An error has occurred. Unable to probe radio band." It works with the official ICOM program. The last CHIRP program it worked with was 2018-0104. From versions 2018-0115 til now it doesn't work.

HI David,

I'm really sorry this bug got dropped. I just encountered this while doing some testing and came here to see if anyone has reported it.

I just pushed up a fix (I hope) for this and it should be in tomorrow's daily build. I don't have one of these radios to test with so I can't be sure, but please try it and report back!

Sounds like this is still not fixed...If someone could upload a debug log for this it would help.

Hi, I have one of these, have hopefully uploaded a debug log correctly. My first time doing this

Appears to be ALMOST working, for me, on a friends IC-V82. I had the same problem when using the wrong connector on the programming cable. Also got the same error with no connection. So in some cases this error may just indicate a bad cable/connection/disconnect/wrong plug OR counterfeit chip driver problems on windows (some third party software bypasses windows drivers entirely). After finding the right connector, I am able to download from the radio without error and I am able to upload to the radio with error "Failed to communicate with radio: did not get clone result from radio" but the radio display appears to say "CL OK" which suggests success and the radio appears to have been programmed. Side note: this radio supports transmit inhibit "TX OF" in menu on a per channel basis but chirp doesn't appear to support.

Radio: Icom IC-V82
CHIRP daily-20190321 on Linux - Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (Python 2.7.6)
Also failed in an older version before installing latest.
Cable: wishring 8-in-1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014CTNJPW/
Radio state: powered on normally, volume minimum. Also fails powered on in clone mode or with volume at max.
Plug used 2.5mm + 3.5mm WIDE spaced (kenwood/baofung/wouxon) - wrong connector
Bus 001 Device 050: ID 1a86:7523 QinHeng Electronics HL-340 USB-Serial adapter
debug.log attached for both errors.

It eventually worked using one of the two single 3.5mm cables with only 3 connections (TRS). It was labelled "Y1" but that label seems to have been swapped with "I1" as the I1 has 4 connections TRRS and that it what yaesu needs.
