Also interested in seeing support for the FT-2980.
Updated by Bernhard Hailer almost 5 years ago
- Subject changed from FT-2980r to Yaesu FT-2980R
- Target version set to chirp-legacy
- Chirp Version changed from 0.4.0 to daily
Updated by Bernhard Hailer over 4 years ago
- Status changed from New to Feedback
The addition of a new radio to Chirp requires two things:
1) a volunteer developer who takes the task to work on this driver,
2) availability of test equipment, such as a loaner radio (see Rules For Loaning A Radio).
Unfortunately, you need to wait until both conditions have been met.

FYI, It looks like FT-2980R is already supported when you pick model FT-2900R (TX Mod Unlocked)
In my case FT-2980R is TX unlocked so i picked the unlocked sub model.
We should list FT-2980R on the list of supported radios.

Ive read that its darn near impossible to unlock this radio. How did you unlock yours? Or are you just saying that CHIRP now works for this model?

I get the error after pressong the Set Mhz button, screen shows --Tx--- the gives an ERROR and Chirp screen says Unable to read Header Error. Thanks in adance for any help.
