No. That's not what I mean. I'm programming a new radio. Lets sat last memory in agroup is 10 and the next memory in use is 25, chirp doesn't allow me to create blank memories 11 through

24 so that I can fill those memories. As it stands now I have to populate those memories manually and then change them in chirp. Also if I want to rename memory 8 to now be 26 I have no way to do it. I tried your suggestions before posting and I can only move a memory one slot at a time and can't change the assigned memory number.

I don't understand why you need to create blank memories. You just go down to memory 25 and program it. There is no need to do anything to memories 11 through 24.

Do it this way then. Highlight memory 8, paste it to 26. Then go back and highlight 8 again and hit the delete key. It works because I did it today and yesterday before I replied to get the steps right.

The reason you use CHIRP is because it does these things and always has for the nearly 4 years that I have been using it.

I need to create memories otherwise I can't populate them. Those slots aren't available to me. I'm very grateful for what I am able to do with chirp but in my situation it doesn't work fully. I will continue to create dummy memories so than I can edit them.

Unfortunately we are still not on the same wavelength.

I downloaded the JT270M image from the repository and loaded it into CHIRP. I can put data in any of the 200 memory rows at will. It doesn't matter if it is blank or already populated.

Populating a memory creates it. Can you provide a screen capture or something to explain what you mean?

It's almost midnight here tomorrow I will take a screenshot. I am working in Linux and what is not populated appears greyed out and inaccessible to me.

Thanks you so much. I am finally able to use Chirp properly. Please excuse my ignorance. Now if I can only figure out how to change the factory radio ID so that I can use selective calls I would be done withthis radio. But I posted that earlier on the site so I will wait to see if someone knows how I can do that. Have a great day.
