Description
I just received my cable from Valley Enterprises today. DB9 on one end, the PS2 connector on the other.
I keep getting "An error has occurred Failure to read header (0)
This is my procedure. Radio off, computer on
cable plugged into Com Port 1, set by default as 9600, N, 1
On the Radio Press V/M and turn power on.
Rotate Right Dial knob until display indicates "Clone Start"
Press middle SET Key
Display disappears for a second and then CLONE appears in the display.
I start CHIRP, Click on tab RADIO > Download from Radio > Port: 1 Vendor: Yaesu Model: FT-8800
I click OK and after several seconds, I get the above error message.
I think it is just an error in my procedure.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Respectfully,
Mike

SUCCESS! It was an error in my procedure.
- Radio Off, Plug in cable between computer and radio
- Computer On but not running CHIRP.
- On Radio, Press left V/M and Power at the same time and hold until you hear the five or six sequential tones.
- Rotate Right Dial Knob until CLONE START is displayed.
- Press the middle SET button
- The display will blank momentarily and then display CLONE
- Open CHIRP.
Here comes the part you can't be slow about doing. X below denotes your serial port number
- In CHIRP, press Radio > Download from Radio > Port:X Vendor:Yaesu Model:FT-8800
- PRESS OK
- Press the Left V/M on the radio and CLONE TX will appear.
At this point, the radio will show a status bar and CHIRP will show a status bar.
After the download is complete, you will hear a beep and your image file will be displayed
in CHIRP.
I will post more when I edit and try to upload a changed image file.
Respectfully,
Mike

- On Radio, Press left V/M and Power at the same time and hold until you hear the five or six sequential tones.
- Rotate Right Dial Knob until CLONE START is displayed.
- Press the middle SET button
- The display will blank momentarily and then display CLONE
- Open CHIRP and open the image file you wish to upload.
Again, this part you can't be slow about doing. X below denotes your serial port number
- In CHIRP, press Radio > Upload to Radio > Port:X Vendor:Yaesu Model:FT-8800
- Leave pane open for the moment.
- Press the Left "LOW" button on the radio and CLONE RX will appear in the display.
- Press OKAY on the UPLOAD pane on your computer to start the upload.
The status bar will show the upload as well the "signal meters" on the radio.
You will hear a beep when it is done. Scrolling through the memory confirmed the
upload was successful.
