I, too, am very anxious to have CHIRP work with the Alinco DJ-V5. I can offer one for loan although it may take a while for me to get it to you - I'm currently on long term assignment in Canada. How do I change the 'loan offer' tag? Or do you do that?
Where do I send it and how long is it likely to be away?
Thanks for all that you do!!

I spent sometime with Jim and access to his radio, unfortunately we were unable to get a proper ACK for either ident or the traditional AL commands. Here is a trace of the serial port while chirp is attempting to communicate with the device. (I constructed a basic module based on the existing alnico devices for test)

According to the manufacturer the device supports cloning between two devices, therefore it may be possible to emulate the slave device, however with no further data we were not able to proceed.
If anybody out there has any insight as to the protocol for this device, it would be useful.

The quest continues ... to no avail.
Since my original post and efforts with Arvanitis I have located my ancient copy of the RT Systems software. It requires a password which is long lost although I know that I bought the software legitimately years ago. RT Systems was unable/unwilling to give any help - all questions were met with a "we no longer support that radio" stonewall.
So now I have my beloved radio, a programming cable and the software without password. I'm still no further than before. I wonder if reverse engineering the software is a possibility.
BTW: I have also tried emailing anybody that I could find on various forums who indicated that they had the radio and software and have never received a reply from anyone.

Further info -
I tried to send an email to +fregon45@netzero.net+ asking for help and it bounced. That webpage is pretty old and it appears that email address is no longer valid.

There is a functional DOS program called djall that can be downloaded at: http://hamradio.online.ru/ftp/djall.exe
Possibly this will be of help to someone with greater programming skills than me.
