CHIRP already does. Just use UV-5R as the Model.

Jim, should this be indicated in the Supported Radios page?

I would do that, except it seems that anyone that purchases a certain minimum quantity of the UV-5R can have a custom case and whatever they want printed on the badge.

It would need to indicate using the UV-5R Model for all of the following...

UV-5R+, UV-5R Plus, UV-5R+Plus, UV-5RA, UV-5RA+, UV-5RA Plus, UV-5RAX, UV-5RAX+, UV-5RB, UV-5RC, UV-5RCX, UV-5RD, UV-5RE, UV-5RE+, UV-5RE Plus, UV-5RS, UV-5RQ, UV-5RT, UV-5RU, UV-E5, UV-5S, BF-F8, BF-F8+, BF-F9 and GT-3 (I'm sure there are more)

I'm open for suggestions

How about we make the UV-5R entry a link, which takes you to a page that lists all the known variants and explains a little about the problem of identification? Would you be willing to maintain that? You're definitely the expert in those matters :)

If someone would setup the link and the page, I will attemp to populate it (and try to maintain it).

Jim,

I created this page and linked it from the front: http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Baofeng_UV5R_Variants

Thanks a bunch, as usual! :)
