Bug #11916
openInitial download starts - then fails
0%
Description
(Describe what you were doing)
This is a brand new radio. I was attempting the first download from the radio so that I could save the image file. Then start to programm it.
(Describe what you expected to happen)
I expected the download to be successful so that I could start to program the radio.
(Describe what actually happened instead)
The download starts. The radio displays “programming” the radio turns off, download fails.
(Has this ever worked before? New radio? Does it work with OEM software?)
Never happened before. This is a new radio just unboxed and charged up.
Firmware: V0.33
Hardware V1.00

Wow. Thanks for the quick response. Usually, I would agree, however... I use Chirp with 3 other radios, same cable no problem. Also, when I initiate the download, the radio is put into "Program" mode. Once that happens about 1 second later, the radio powers off. So there is communication going to/from the radio.

That's exactly the behavior you will see if there is communication to the radio but not from the radio (which happens plenty often). The radio gets the program command, chirp gets nothing back from it, times out, radio times out and resets. CHIRP's log shows it is getting not a single byte from the radio, so it's not like chirp is seeing something and doing something wrong - it's seeing nothing.
Try with the OEM software. If it works, then we can discuss alternatives. If it doesn't, then it's either a DOA radio or the cable isn't actually making good contact with the radio's terminals.

Will do. I'll report back with the findings. Perhaps a lousy mini-jack on the radio itself. Thank you!
