Brad Meyer (KQ4UWF) here i have a problem I would like your help solving if possible.

When I received my UV-32 it had a power output of 13 watts on 2 meters, 5 watts on 1.25 meters and 10 watts on 70 cm. After using Chirp UV-17ProGPS the power on 2 meters was reduced to 10 watts. The other bands uneffected.

I performed a factory reset this did not solve the issue. I downloaded BF UVs PRO EN CPS Version 1.4.6 (UV32).zip Tried to program with it no success.

I then exported the UV-17 ProGPS to a csv file, edited the contents of that file paying close attention to the power output field. I was able to open the file in Chirp but could not write to the radio. The error message was, paraphasing, "this is an independent radio file" followed by it can not be used.

Using a hex editor I was hoping to modify Chirp or BF UV program file to allow for the higher rf output on 2 meters. This was not successful.
I suspect the files were complied after being written.

So to the heart of the matter. Is there away to open the edited UV-17Pro csv file (attached) and allow it to program the radio in Chirp. Or can this file be converted to a .dat file and opened in Chirp. Or is there a way to edit either Chirp or the BF-UV to allow for increased rf output on 2 meters.

Baofeng states they do not support this model apparently due to being a third party contract...odd. This is going to to be a widespread problem, with this radio.

Anything you can do or suggest would be appreciated.
