Bug #11715
closedKG-UV6D rejects 6M frequencies with KG-UV7D
100%
Description
I have a KG-UV7D (6M/2M version) and I used the KG-UV6D driver as suggested. I can easily download stored frequencies, which include both 6M and 2M channels. When I query RepeaterBook and download channels in my area, I can't upload the file directly, and try to copy/paste it to a radio file for the KG-UV6D, but all the 6M channels are rejected.

Can you please follow the IssueInstructions you indicated you read and upload an image of your radio?

I used the KG-UV6D driver with a KG-UV7D (6/2M version) to program memories. I doenloaded the radio image, saved it, and queried Repeaterbook for 6 & 2M repeaters within 100 Miles of my location. I copied and pasted the downloaded data over the cells downloaded from the radio. After I allowed the image to overwrite the existing cells, I received an error box saying that the 6m frequencies were outside the capability of the radio.

Done, sorry. I shouldn't file bugs during a migraine.

I installed the test program from the issue, downloaded the existing radio
configuration, queried the repeaterbook, selected all and copied from the
repeaterbook download, selected all, and pasted them to the radio. The
cells pasted cleanly. I saved the file, uploaded it to the radio, and then
downloaded and saved a second copy. Both copies are attached. I have also
attached the debug log. I had to change the .img extension to .tmp because
GMail won't send .img files.

- Are you aware that the KG-UV7D comes in three versions?
6M/2M
2M/1.25M
2M/70cm
It might be useful to create three different drivers for the three
different KG-UV7D versions.

Yes, and the existing driver already accounts for all of the variations. There was just a bug in the driver that caused it to (recently) start considering everything to be 2m/440 only. But, I fixed the bug so it should be back to its intended behavior of handling them all properly. Creating separate drivers for each is definitely a worse situation :)
I put the fix in for the next build, probably next week, but you can continue to use the load-module path until then as needed.
Thanks!

Thank you. Now as soon as there's a driver for the KG-Q332, I'll be happy
(for now).

Yes, of course. I wrote my first program in 1974; it was a Fortran program
which calculated and printed out exterior ballistics for a hunting load for
the 30-06. By now I should realie that smaller is better.

Can I get notified when the fix gets into the next Beta and the CHIRP-Next
release? I'll be happy to run whatever tests you need.

Build notifications go to the mailing list (linked from How_To_Get_Help). However, chirp will notify you when the next update is available, so you can just wait until you see that.
