I read the instructions above:

Description

I see there is support for a "Comment" field in the exported .csv.

It would be nice this field to be visible in all tranceivers when importing the channellist ,

much more helpful than the 6-char name.

I have used succesfully Chirp with my Yeasu FT-8700 , Wouxun KG-UVD1P , and Baofeng UV-3R.

I believe this is only support on radios who support this in the radio image. As chirp stores the radio image to the disk, if the radio image cannot support this field, chirp cannot store/recall this.

This will require a more robust storage format that supports storing extra data not stored by the radio.

I don't think there's a related issue for a new storage format, but there's a proposal:

Couldn't this be done in the GUI? You could have myfile.img and myfile.extradata, and let the GUI display them side-by-side (simplifying a little). So the storage format wouldn't need to change.

Of course if anybody edited myfile.extradata outside of chirp, it could potentially ruin the relationship between the two files. You could make the extradata file hidden if that's a concern, or (yuck) make it a binary file.

Yes, and it's coming in chirp-next. Rejecting this as a dupe of #723, which is where I'll account for it.
