Description

Pc has recently upgraded to windows 11. Went to read emails and misrocoft automated change to outloose mail client. This also enforced misrocoft account login and they took controll of my pc.
Now when trying to open a .img file to load on a radio, (system) a user entity thrust into my pc by the big power Halts chirp and Prevents file being loaded. It seems to prevent file access for the chip process from then on. You can't close you can't exit, a prompt to exit without saving, but wont close. Tried now on 2 pc's with dinwows account, both the same. A clean install of O/S and chirp and all other things still works until your system is turned to enforcing a big brother account to access you pc.
Chirp won't let me use alternate file extensions, while it should need to be done, could you include the option of saving and loading file with different extension. Something like .cri for chirp radio image or something similar.
I tried reverting to local account and removing one drive etc. reload only works.
Misrocoft offers no solution but to pull big corp bully.

should add word freezes in search term. as in windows 11 chirp freezes when loading image files.
this would have prevented duplicating issues.

This sounds like a Microsoft issue, not a CHIRP issue.

When emailing 'image' files to and receiving them from others, files with a .img extension are blocked by gmail (and likely others). I usually tack on a .txt to the end before to get around the issue and have them do the same when emailing image files to me. Sometimes I forget to remove the .txt extension and don't have any issue loading a valid image file that has the .txt extension. I simply change the file mask to "All Files(.)" so it will show up in the list and then select it.
