Description

BF-F9V2+

Errors received:

Unable to upload this file
This is radio-independent file and cannot be uploaded directly to a radio. Open a radio image (or download one from the radio and then copy/paste items from this tab (what tab?) into that one in order to upload.

When trying to download the radio image from the radio,
I don't see my radio on the drop down options list. When I try several different models,

I receive this error message:
Error communicating with radio

This radio did not accept program mode after five times.
Check your interface cable and power cycle your radio.

My cable is the upgraded cable,
and worked in previous versions of Chirp,
on this same BF-F9V2+ model.

(What is “power cycling?”)

tried to install the legacy version,
w/o success.

Now what? Any ideas what's wrong?

thank you!

one last thing,

Per the IssueInstructions you indicated you read, we need a debug log showing you reproducing the problem. Please also indicate which model you're selecting. AFAIK, this model has never been in the actual drop-down list and you need to select BF-F8HP.

If you look your radio up in the Supported Radio List on the CHIRP Home page, you will find...

Baofeng/Pofung

  • BF-F9V2+ (use BF-F8HP)

The rule of thumb for most UV-5R like radios with 128-channels is as follows...

2 TX power levels, 2 bands: Baofeng / UV-5R
3 TX power levels, 2 bands: Baofeng / BF-F8HP
2 TX power levels, 3 bands: Radioddity / UV-5RX3

Dan, or is it Jim?

well, I guess I can't read,
but thanks for replying anyway.
in my defense, I did puruse this page:

BaofengUV5R - A dedicated page to the very popular Baofeng UV-5R (and variants) with error message explanations

and did not see any links to the page you provided in the email sent.

AFAIK, the debug file was attached.
Did I upload the wrong file?
debug file re-uploaded below.

also, I was able to get a file downloaded.
But no upload.
Please see attached file .csv Chirp.
self-explanatory.

getting closer ...
Thanks for your reply.

Changing the extension from .csv to .img wouldn't have 'fixed' this unless the original *.img file wrongly named as a *.csv file.
