Description
I just got a Baofeng UV-17M - the model number is marked on a label under the battery pack. The radio works with Chirp as a "UV-17Pro" - I was able to download the factory setup and copy and upload a set of frequencies copied from a UV-68. The problem is that CHIRP doesn't recognize that AM is a valid reception type for this radio, nor does it recognize the air band frequencies. When I try to copy those, I get an

... error message (attached) reading that NAM is not supported and the air band frequency is out of range. Also note that while Chirp did download channel 48 with the correct frequency, it stores it as FM, not AM.

Hi all,
I've just the same problem with exactly that model Baofeng UV-17M.
I'd also ask for including the exact range of frequencies for this model.
I'm able to store a channel on the unit and it will be recovered by Chirp but I'm unable to create new channels or edit those imported within the "incorrect" range of frequencies directly in Chirp as you can see in the pictures.
Thanks a lot in advance for all your efforts and time.

The recently committed UV-17R-Plus profile seems to work well with the UV-17M. I was able to upload and download images including AM airband frequencies.
