Bug #10951
openSettings tab empty
0%
Description
Hi, I am trying to program my Baofeng UV-5R with chirp but it is failing to open the settings tab, instead it displays the error message "NoneType Object is not Iterable" I have turned on developer mode and discovered the frequency range is set far out of range but I don't know how to change it. I have attached the .img file and a picture of what I mean.
Cheers!

The 16 bytes of memory that normally contains the radio's band limits has blank (set to 0xFF). This was either a mistake at the factory or your radio doesn't uses/supports band limits stored in memory or someone/something has changed them.
To make sure it wasn't CHIRP that made this change, please attach the backup that CHIRP made (Baofeng_UV-5R_20231118T125803.img). It is located here: C:\Users\DnRha\AppData\Roaming\CHIRP\backups\
I have added band limits to your image and attached it to this ticket. Upload it to your radio, power cycle the radio and then download from your radio back to CHIRP to see if your radio is capable of retaining these settings. If it does, you should be good.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. I was unable to find that file in my backups. I have uploaded the file to my radio and everything works now, Thanks for the help!

Another way to get to the backups folder is to follow these steps...
- Click Help in the menu bar
- Choose Show debug log location in the drop down list
- In the File Explorer window appears click AppData in the Address bar
- Double-click Roaming in the File and Folder listing area
- Double-click CHIRP in the File and Folder listing area
- Double-click backups in the File and Folder listing area
Now you should be viewing the backups folder with all of the CHIRP backups listed.
