Description

Using latest version CHIRP dated 10-3-2023. Trying to input a new DTCS Tx code for a GMRS (462 MHZ) channel to a repeater that just changed codes from a tone code to DTCS with a high number 700 plus... when I click on the correct code in the pull down menu (after changing from tone to DTCS), it will not accept it and reverts back to the 023 base DTCS code. I've tried to manually input the 7xx code and still reverts back to 023 code. please help.

I have confirmed the issue. It is the same for both radios with or without the VOX option. I will have to study the debug.log files to see if I can find a solution for the problem.

In the mean time I have a workaround for the problem. Using the CHIRP-next tone selection helper programs the DTCS code without any problem. Here is how to do it.

  1. Click in the Cross Mode cell
  2. Choose DTCS->DTCS
  3. Choose the desired TX DTCS Code
  4. Choose the desired RX DTCS Code
  5. Click [OK] to clear the Information prompt

The attached screen capture is of a AT-778UV-VOX image with the 8 GMRS repeater frequencies programmed using this method. The first four have been programmed with a DTCS code for both TX and RX. The last four are programmed with a DTCS code that is TX only. The resulting image is also attached.
