Description

Little background,

Last week purchased the GA-510 through Amazon. Tried to clone the radio and got the error message "Radio did not respond to clone request."
Tried other radios on the same BTECH PC03 Cable and they cloned just fine. I contacted Radioddity USA Support via email explaining the issue and their response was to return the radio and have another shipped.
I received the new radio yesterday and this morning tried to clone with the same error. Switched to the cable included with the radio and the same error. Tried other radios and they clone just fine with both cables.

I see there was another user who had the same exact problem in (closed) Issue # 10514 with no resolution. https://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/10514
I have not been able to find the firmware version of this radio in the menu.

I have included my Debug Log.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks for your assistance.

I dug my Retevis RA-85 out of storage (it uses the same gA-510 driver) and gave it a try to make sure CHIRP is functioning OK. Downloading and uploading both worked as expected.

As with issue #10514, this is most likely a connection issue. Since you have confirmed that your programming cable works by programming other radios, I would suggest that you double check to make sure the 2-pin plug of the programming cable is fully inserted into the socket of the radio. This is a common problem due to socket variations with these lower cost Chinese manufactured radios. You might even try to put a little pressure on the plug during the cloning process.

  • Status changed from New to Rejected

Appears to be a dupe of #10600 as Radioddity has confirmed they are shipping a new radio under the same name with incompatible changes (sigh).
