Bug #10306
openMac OS Ventura FTDI Baofeng UV-82HP
0%
Description
I have tried the configuration you will see below (Mac Silicon M1 Ventura OS FTDI cable Baofeng UV-82HP) and also tried the Windows version using Parallels and a Baofeng P12303 Chip and cannot get the computer (CHIRP) to recognize the UV-82HP. As I believe the log will show, I was able to download from the radio at one point, which implies the FTDI cable works, but CHIRP does not recognize the Baofeng and I am unable to upload.
Thank you.

- Status changed from New to Feedback
It is common for UV-82 owners to think the 2-pin plug is fully inserted into the radio's socket when it isn't. The steel pins of the plug will stick on the steel rings of the socket and you will swear that it is in solidly (it used to fool me). But once you wiggle the plug some while pressing in, it will finally snap in that tiny little bit that it is missing. Eventually you will git the knack of getting the plug fully inserted the first time, every time like I did.

Update - I pressed very hard on the cable connection with no change - able to download (computer recognized UV-82HP), but then I could not upload the correct channel programming. When attempting to upload, the computer did not recognize the radio. Debug file attached.

There seems to be an issue on Apple M1 USB.
I have USB HD units that refuse to communicate on M1 but are fine on Apple Intel.
