There's a chance that this radio can be programmed using this selection in Chirp:
Maker: Baofeng, Model: GT-5R
Please try this out and let us know what you find by commenting on this ticket. Thank you!

Hello.

I tested this setting with a Midland CT590S radio, but unfortunately not good. However, it works with the PRG-10 program, so the cable and driver are fine.

CHIRP message: Cloning, cloning, (4-5 sec) and Radio did not respond

Could you please provide a debug log as described in the Wiki: "How To Report Issues"? Thanks!

Hello.

Thanks for the reply, and attach the debug.log file.

Since you stated that the cable works fine when you're using the OEM software, we must conclude that this radio isn't supported yet, and that someone needs to start writing a driver for it.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I was expecting that answer. In any case, thank you, we hope there will be a step forward soon.

This radio looks to me to be closer to a TYT style radio than it does a Baofeng style radio.

In order to "step forward" a volunteer CHIRP developer, that is interested in doing the work, needs to have physical access to the radio, a compatible programming cable and a working copy of the OEM programming software.

I have tried the CHIRP with all TYT types radio settings, but unfortunately none of them work with the CT590S.

The OEM software would not be a problem, the cable is a "Kenwood type cable", which is also using to programming the Baofeng, but unfortunately I can't give a radio. Otherwise, the radio menu is almost identical to the menu of the Baofeng UV-5R.

I didn't mean to infer that any of the TYT selections would work. The UV-5R has the zero key in the right column and the up/down keys in the top row. The CT590S has the zero key in the bottom row and the up/down keys in the right column like many TYT radios. So at first glance I would suspect it was a TYT variant.

However, now that I do see that the blue menu labels on the numeric keypad keys do match up with those of the UV-5R. That leaves being a related to that model still as a good possibility.

Can you send me the original PRG-10 program for ST-590S to the e-mail: chuchvych88@gmail.com?
