Bug #9377
openCannot write settings to file or radio: KG-UV8D on Mac or PC
0%
Description
I have tried to program the radio on both my Mac (MacOS 11.4) and PC (Windows 10 21H1) and encounter the same problem in both cases: the software will not write my changes to the file when I save it, nor will it write those changes to the radio.
Steps to reproduce:
Get a Wouxun KG-UV8D radio, and factory reset it (Menu item 51, then select "ALL" rather than "VFO").
Then connect the radio to the computer, open CHIRP, and pull the radio's stock config.
Select the Settings tab in CHIRP and change the "Poweron message" field from "Bitmap" to "Battery Volts" and uncheck the Voice Guide box.
Save the config. Write it to the radio - it should reboot with the bitmap screen (in error), not battery voltage as selected earlier.
Close the config file and reopen it - the changes you made should have reverted to their defaults as well.
I followed the process listed on the bug contribution page and have attached the debug log file from my Mac.

P.S. to say that this extends to other settings as well for me such as VHF and UHF TX ranges, etc. I just thought I'd narrow the field for now.

It seems to me that you're having a permission issue on your computer.
