Bug #5597
closedupload was stopped because the firmware version
0%
Description
The upload was stopped because the firmware version of the image (N82-33 US2S35 ) does not match that of the radio (N5R2407BFB297 ).
I bought two UV82HPs. The blue one works fine. I am getting this message from the black one. The blue one powers on as US2S35 160408N. The black one powers on as N82301 160408N. I found a link https://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/4445#note-12 and tried to load the module but it says "Unable to load module: invalid syntax (uv5r_test_fix_2_for_HN5RV_firmware.py, line 1)". Using CHIRP daily-20180210. I have a couple of questions. Is there something shady about the black one? If I do get Chirp working will that affect the files I already have from the blue one. May main purpose with Chirp is to clone the radios so I only have to program one.

- Status changed from New to Incomplete
This is exactly how CHIRP is designed to work. If the firmware versions do not exactly match, depending on the exact circumstances the uploaded range of memory can be limited or, as in your case, aborted.
The first firmware version (N82-33 US2S35) is an original UV-82HP from BaofengTech. The second firmware version (N5R2407BFB297) is not from a radio sold by BaofengTech and is actually identifying itself to CHIRP as being a UV-5R.
So what you must do is maintain separate CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) files for each radio. You can always maintain 1 radio image as the "master" and once updated as needed, import it into the other.
