G'day...
Windows 7 64bit. Baofeng UV 82HP Daily Build 20170324. After a week of messing around, I finally bought a high grade USB cable that let me talk to the radio. Everything working fine with 2 exceptions.

Cannot program "P" in SKIP field. Need my main firefighting channel to be a priority, like it is on my Kenwood TK-2312.
(This is the biggie!) When I select "Save" or "Save AS" or try to export the file. Nothing happens. In seven languages I can tell you nothing happens. No dialog box, no error messages. Even my coffee still tastes the same. Other than that, I am BERY BERY happy you guys are here doing this. Without CHIRP, the rest of us wouldn't have a bird's chance.

Any clues??

Forgot to mention that I just spent an hour looking through existing issues searching for anything similar. And then another hour researching FAQs and such online. No joy. Just to let you know I DO try Self-Help first.

You'll have to purchase a different radio. The UV-82 doesn't support a priority channel and CHIRP can't make a radio do anything it can't do. ;-)

Have you tried running CHIRP as an admin user (right-click the CHIRP shortcut and choose "Run as administrator")? I am fairly certain that this is a Windows permissions issue and has nothing to do with CHIRP.

Roger #1....new radio required for Priority channel assignment. Ain't happening, so I'll deal with it as it is. Thanks for your insight.

Item 2...tried running as administrator just now, No Joy there, either. Your next choice would beeeee....???

I would try a couple of things.

It is possibe that the chirp.config is corrupt. Delete or rename it. The next time you load CHIRP, a new one will be created. The chirp.config file is located in the same folder as the debug.log file.
Download the ZIP version of CHIRP. Extract it somewhere convenient and run it by executing "chirpw.exe".

Sorry for the delay. I've had more fire than I've had water lately. (That's a firefighter's joke.)
