I read the instructions above:
Description
Safari can’t open the file “chirp-daily-20161120” because no available application can open it.
I have downloaded and run Python Runtime and it seems to install fine.
Tried it in Chrome with same result.
Running Mac OS 10.12.1

- go to Chirp web site ( http://chirp.danplanet.com)
- click on 'get it!' button. You will be taken to "CHIRP downloads' wiki page (http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Download)
- click on 'click here to download the latest Mac OS X version'. you will be taken to the download page for the latest DAILY build (http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/LATEST/). Since the web site recognized you are coming from a Mac it will highlight which binary to download (the one with the app.zip extension)
- click on 'chirp-daily-YYYYMMDD.app.zip' . Safari will a) download the file into the 'Download' folder inside your home directory AND b) automatically extract the executable program (chirp-daily-YYYYMMDD.app) from the zip archive.
- Open Finder program, navigate to ~/Downloads, select the executable program, drag it and drop it in the 'Applications' folder
- Run chirp from the Applications folder
If for some reason Safari is not able to extract the executable from the zip archive file, download and install 'The Unarchiver' free archive utility to re-set the proper default application to manage files of ZIP extension.
These instructions have been tested on Mac OS 10.12.1
