Description

I had a Btech BF-F8hp radio that programmed just fine with the same cable and drivers, and went to the new UV5x as Chirp supported it they say, and it will not download from radio at all..I'm on MacOS and as stated with my Baeofeng Cable and drivers it worked on the BF-F8HP just fine...

Michael,

The UV-5X3 is not a Baofeng radio, it is a BTech radio. Are you selecting BTECH for the Vendor and then UV-5X3 for the Model?

Hello Jim,

I'm having a similar problem with using CHIRP to program the UV-5X3. It is set to BTech but I get the error "An error has occurred - Radio did not respond" when I try to "Download from Radio". The volume is all the way up and I'm using this cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013OKT2ZG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00 with a RS-232 to USB cable. Any suggestions are welcome. And thank you!

I had this same problem. I just received the 5X3 today and tried to program it and was getting the same error; "radio did not respond". I found that I was not pushing the connector all the way in on the radio. I must have tried to clone 50 times, trying everything. The fact that it's was (for me at least) a connector issue is surprising as it was unnoticeable because I pushed on the connector many times. The jacks are inset on the radio and doesn't seem like the best fit for the connector cable. In the end it works now and happy I don't have to mail it back. Hope this helps.
