Description

All of a sudden, with no changes to any settings, my Baofeng UV-82HPs won't receive (no audio). I haven't changed anything, and although I am told later that I've got a strong transmit signal, I hear nothing back on simplex or repeater. I can see the rx color on my LCD but hear no audio.

Attach you CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) file.

My apologies- but what are the CHIRP Radio Images files?

FYI- in the meantime, I wrote Baofeng Tech and they (fantastically!) got back to me via email multiple times to troubleshoot (amazing for a Saturday night!). For some reason, although it worked before, I had both the TX CTCSS and RX CTCSS programmed the same, with success. But now it doesn't so Baofeng Tech suggested I go through CHIRP to switch TQSL to TONE (which negates the RX CTCSS). Now everything works like it did previously.

I'm really impressed with the Baofeng Tech customer service and grateful my HTs are working again!

My first though was that you had RX tones programmed but that wasn't consistent with "All of a sudden, with no changes to any settings".

To find out which possibility was correct, I wanted to look at your saved "image" (that native file that you get when you save your channels and settings). This would have allowed me to see that you had Tone Mode set to TSQL (which I suspected) and I would have recommended that you change it to Tone.

Anyway, the good news is you have it solved.
