Description

When I try to "Download from Radio" my USB port does not appear as an option. Additionally, when I attempt to input a frequency, on the last (6th) digit the voice says "Cancel" and then the numbers go back to where they were before. Please help. I am brand spanking new at this and this Baofeng was a gift.

Hi, I'm new here too, as I got a Baofeng UV-5F as a Christmas gift. You will need to find the driver for the Prolific USB-Serial Driver and install it on your Mac. Then Restart when prompted.

It will then show up in the list as: /dev/cu.usbserial

I found the Driver here:
http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=229&pcid=41

Forget the disk that came with the cable or the program from Baofeng, it is all in Chinese. Chirp works great!

Hi Nick,
I had the same problem. I also had to reset the handset, which changed the language to Mandarin... but the menu is still written in English, so it was easy enough to set back to English voice prompts...
I also had to un-install, and re-install the prolific driver.. I can't work out why, but it now works.
Good luck!
