Description
Hello
I do not know where to post this and if i have all the information needed.
I have 10 new pieces of Baofeng UV-82
I am using CHIRP daily-20150607
GTK 2.24.10
PyGTK 2.24.0
Python 2.7.2
With this cable i can read and write to a puxing radio, so the cable is good.
When i am tryng to read from any of UV-82 radio i have the error message (print screen attached)
Incorrect 'Model' selected.
When i try to write to radio a file that worked on others UV-82 i got this error (print screen attached)
An error has occurred
The upload was stopped because the firmware version of the image ( Ver B82S27 ) does not match that of the radio (N822411N822411).
If i try to hold button 5 and power on , the radio does not display any firmware version, only the channel name
When i power the radio with button 3 press i get
Ver
N822411
When i power the radio with button 6 press i get
140902N
The previous UV-82 radios that i got had the serial number like
1411UV8249010
1411UV8248504
1411UV8249022
This batch has the serials like
15UV824578
Does anyone has a clue what or where the problem is about ?
Can chirp be programmed to accept this model/firmware N822411N822411 to read it ? After this i can modify the frequencies and write on the radio without problems, i guess
Is this firmware N822411N822411 a new firmware , an old firmware, or a mistake ?
Does anyone need more information ?
Thank you and i hope i can program them somehow.
Have a nice day

- Status changed from New to Rejected
Hi Alin,
I am rejecting this issue only because support for this new version has already been submitted related to issue #2629. Once it is accepted, it will be available in the next CHIRP daily build release and CHIRP should then download from your radio.
As far as the error uploading goes, CHIRP is behaving as expected. With Baofeng radios supported by the uv5r.py driver, uploads are now aborted if the firmware version of the CHIRP Radio Image being uploaded does not exactly match the firmware version of the radio it is being uploaded to. This is because Baofeng has been making memory layout changes in the recent firmware versions that are not compatible across all firmware versions.
After the CHIRP daily build that supports this new firmware version is released, you will have to download from your new radio, then either import the "master" .img file to this tab or load the "master" .img into a second tab allowing you to copy-and-past between tabs.

Alin,
The patch has been accepted and if all goes as planned, it will be in tomorrow's daily build.

Hi,
I am a newbie, but having this problem as well uploading to new UV-82 with this firmware. Running Chirp 0.4.1.1. When I try to install daily builds, terminal window tells me: Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/chirp-daily_20150702~trusty~1_amd64.deb
how can I get around this?

Chris,
This is unrelated to the problem that this issue was opened for.
Your issue is more related to linux that it is CHIRP so I would ask the question in the CHIRP mailing list instead of opening a CHIRP issue.

Thank you for your response. Sorry to be ignorant, but what do you mean by the Chirp mailing list? Where is that?
Also: From reading similar issues/threads re problems uploading .img or .chirp files to a radio, is there way I can try to use the Import function to load an .img or .chirp file back to my radio that gives me the firmware error? I.e. instead of using the "Upload to Radio" function in Chirp?

CHRIS,
Go to the CHIRP Home/Wiki page by "clicking this link":http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home or by clicking the "Wiki" tab near the top of this page. On that page there is a section near the top called "Getting Started" where you will see "3. Join the "mailing list":http://intrepid.danplanet.com/mailman/listinfo/chirp_users!".
