CHIRP

Hello everyone,
I recently bought myself a Baofeng UV-5R MK5 from Amazon and wanted to try it out. I installed CHIRP and wanted to connect it to the radio. At first, it turned on, but as I was watching the PC monitor the radio turned off and CHIRP never could connect to it.
After this, I unplugged the radio from the cable and tried everything to turn it on, but nothing helped. I tried to charge it for 4 hours, took the battery out and so on.
Could the problem be, that I plugged the cable in while the radio was turned on, as it's not advised in the CHIRP manual? Or has anybody an idea what could be wrong?

Because I couldn't connect the radio to CHIRP, I obviously can't give any debug log or image file. I hope you understand.
