Feature #11072
openCould any good soul add full compatibility with IU0IJV UV-K5 firmware? It wonderfully brings full life to the small (and lowcost) Quangchen radio, but the incompatibility thrashes the CHIRP memories setup. TNX!!!

Hi Federico,
Here is my edit (please see file attached) of the Quansheng K5/K6 CHIRP-next driver, adapted to version 2.9R3 of IJV firmware. There is probably a room for further refinement but as it stands, it allows correct programming of almost all basic settings and memories.
I find the current state of the IU0IJV firmware to be stable and perfectly usable. Yet, this firmware is still under rapid development and almost every new revision introduces changes in some values and settings. Adding a dedicated driver for Quansheng K5/K6-IJV in CHIRP-next at this stage might be premature.
To use it as an external module, CHIRP-next has to be set in Developer Mode (Help | Developer Mode), then restarted.
Next, every time the CHIRP-next is started, the driver module should be loaded from File | Load Module...
Radio is listed as (Vendor: Quansheng, Model: UV-K5-IJV v2.9R3).
You can test it and decide if it suits your needs.
Best Regards,

Hello Jean-Philippe,
I confirm what you've noticed.
Made some corrections. All modes (FM, AM, USB and CW) should be awailable now. There is a new column added for bandwidth settings (Wide, Wide+, Narrow, Narrow-) for every memory channel. You have to enable in CHIRP menu: View | Show extra fields.
Please, check the new version uploaded: uvk5_IJV v2.9R3 (fix).py
Radio is now listed as: Vendor: Quansheng, Model: UV-K5-IJV v2.9R3 (fix)
Best Regards,
Julian
