Description
Before programming with CHIRP I had access to the 200-259mhz band and could scan on the 400-519mhz band however, after using chirp to add some names to my memory's I had programmed earlier on the radio, I noticed I couldn't transmit on the 200-259mhz band and a little later found I also couldn't scan the 400-519mhz band (I can still tx and rx the UHF Band but cannot scan it).
Any suggestions or maybe a image to properly factory reset the radio.
Also I am using the radioddity UV-5Rx3 in chirp to communicate to my radio.
Charlie.

Other Settings, VHF upper limit is set to 174. it will be tri-band only after extending it up to 2xx.

I'll try that now, anything about the scanning on the UHF channels?

Using both the UV-5R and UV-5Rx3 from Baofeng and Radioddity I cannot change the VHF upper limit, I get the error in the photo linked.

This is the correct message for your radio. It tells you that CHIRP isn't going to upload the change to the Aux memory area since it is understood that it can cause a problem in radios of this type.
Are you sure that the second image that you uploaded is an unedited copy of the first successful download? If it was, it was downloaded as a UV-5R, not a UV-5RX3.
Just the same lets see if CHIRP-next's automatic backup has any available in the backup folder.
- Type %appdata% in the Type here to search box near the left end of the Windows task bar and press [Enter].
- Click on the %appdata% File folder icon that appears.
- In the Windows File Explorer that appears double-click the CHIRP folder.
- Double-click the backups folder entry to see the download backups that CHIRP has made for you.
If the currently selected backups folder contains backup 'images' from this radio, please attach the one with the oldest file date to this issue.

I have two backups for the radio, one where I used the UV-5R Baofeng Preset and the UV-5Rx3 Radioddity, I'll link both.

I've had a look at these img's and I think my main mistake was programming the radio with the UV-5R preset before the UV-5Rx3 preset and only found my issue after finishing all the programming.

Thanks. What was used to program these radios before yesterday afternoon?

I've had this radio for a while and just dealt with memorising which frequencies were what, I got the programming cable yesterday afternoon and only used CHIRP.

The oldest backup from CHIRP shows that 3 of the channels (1, 3 and 4) already had channel names. Channel names can't be added using the radio's keypad so some kind of programming software had to have been used on this radio prior to your first download yesterday.

I used an older version of CHIRP legacy to program an older icom IC-E90 and used that older program to download the UV-5R but I didnt make any changes to the radio on the legacy version and used CHIRP next to change it. I can't find any backups on the old computer and can't find any older backups of the radio before any of the changes through CHIRP next.
I know I seem to be making this quite hard but thankyou for you help so far.

OK. Well the Aux memory of this radio is basically blank. That is the problem with these newer radios. The most recent versions of CHIRP (within the last month or so) prevent this from happening by not uploading any data to the Aux memory area.
So either CHIRP legacy was use up perform the upload or an older CHIRP-next was. It is unfortunate that you did not keep an unedited copy of your first successful download. Many CHIRP users don't so this is why CHIRP-next now does it automatically (but unfortunately that feature added to late to help you).
Without a copy of an original image (or at least one that wasn't blanked, the best I can offer for you is to do the following...
- Save the Radioddity_UV-5RX3_20230722(factory).img file that I just attached to a convenient location on your computer
- Start CHIRP
- Load the image file that was saved in step 1 into CHIRP
- Click Settings -> Advanced Settings
- Click in the field for the bottom Range Override Parameter setting
- Type CTRL + A to highlight the whole field
- Type the Delete key to empty the field
- Manually type in UseAtOwnRisk (do not copy-and-paste from your browser)
- Upload to your radio
- Restart CHIRP
With any luck this will have restored your radio. Download from your radio. Save the download, unedited, to a CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) file to be kept as a backup. Load your image that contains your programmed channels into a second tab. Copy-and-paste the channels from the 2nd tab to the "good" tab. Upload the "good" back to your radio.
