Bug #10534
openUsing CHIRP seems to disable FM Broadcast

Description
A curious thing is happening. I have a BF A58S and a UV-S9. I use the Chirp software and it disables the FM broadcast feature. Chirp has the FM feature enabled. I use the reset feature and the FM radio comes back. I use Chirp and it stops working. I do a reset and manually enter the channel information and it stops. I have a second A58S and it has the chinese stock on it and the FM is working. In Chirp I downloaded the Chinese stock frequencies. I reset my old A58S it enabled the FM broadcast feature and then edited the Chinese stock for the American stations and uploaded. The FM Broadcast feature stops working. Sometimes the FM will not populate other times it will with no volume. Any thoughts?

You must not upload the same CHIRP image between your 2 radios. Baofeng has at least 4 different methods of storing the FM frequency now. So if you upload the image to a radio that uses a different method you could see anything from a wrong frequency to nothing at all.
If you want to transfer frequencies between radios. Download form both into CHIRP and then copy/paste between tabs.

Thank you...I do have three separate img files one for the UV5R, one for the UV-S9 (Radioddity) and one for the A58S. The UV5-R is fine no problems.

Would you attach 2 CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) files for each radio (1 with FM working and 1 if FM not working)?

New information...The UV5R is fine. The UV-S9, appears to be a rebranded UV-5R. So using a third party app that enabled the 2 band UV5R to become a triband radio. I tweaked the UV-S9 with the triband freqencies is this app, first using the program to re-program/flash the UV-S9 and then using chirp to reinstall the frequencies. Lo and behold the FM radio came back. Chirp allowed the A58S to extend the frequencies to about 10-30 mhz outside of each traditional Ham bands. Since this radio is used as the hurricane survival/breakdown of other communication channels I am not upset about loss of the FM radio ability.

Please describe exactly the steps you perform to cause the FM to not function.
Also attach 2 CHIRP Radio Image (*.img) file.
- File 1: The radio after a RESET with FM working
- File 2: The radio after the minimum steps (as described above) it takes for FM to not function
