Description

Hi guys,
i bought this baofeng UV9R-AMG from Bangood and the UV9R programming cable.
Is there any software to use with it?
I tried everything that was in the cable CD and CHIRP (legacy and next) but it is useless,i get all kinds of errors or no communication with the radio.

It is most likely the case that you don't have a working connection between the computer and radio. No programming software can work until you provide one. The most common causes of it not to work is...

  1. The device driver installed by Windows is not compatible with the USB-to-Serial chip that was manufactured into the programming cable. This is more likely when it chip inside is of the Prolific type. In that case you must download, install and manually select an older Prolific v3.2.0.0 driver. Links to this driver (and the drivers for the other chip vendors) and instructions for selecting it are available here: https://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php
  2. The "plug" of the programming cable is not properly connected to the "socket" of the radio. This is especially common for these radios using this "Motorola" style connector. The programming cables are available in 2 types. One style is particular troublesome and I have found that I have had to modify them with a file in order for them to correctly line up the pins of the programming with the pads on the radio. See attached photos.

Thanks for your prompt respond Jim,i have tried the prolific driver, the difference between the two cables are the holes that are not important and the outline around the pins ,the pins in both cables are at the same position ,is it something that i am missing?

Also in some attempts the screen turns red or the radio restarts

Which would be a symptom of a driver/cable issue.
