Description

Hi all,

when I try to Download from Radio I get the following error (see full log attached):

chirp.wxui.clone - ERROR: Failed to clone: Error reading data from radio: not the amount of data we want.

Cable is orginal Baofeng CH340 which driver-wise works properly on COM3

Firmware NT5101

Tried also with the legacy version and different models: same error

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Regards, Andreas

The most likely cause is that you don't have a working connection between the "plug" of the programming cable and the "socket" of the radio. Try the factory software. If it doesn't work either, then this is most likely the cause.

I can't tell from the picture which kind of programming cable that you have. Once kind has a lip that goes over the edge of the boss on the radio. Unfortunately this forces the plug to line up with the boss and miss-align with the pads. An expensive one like this was sent to me and I had to modify it with a file in order to get it to line the pins up properly with the pad.

The better kind does not have this lip.

I have both kinds from Baofeng and the better kind from Retevis. The "better" kind always works right away for me. The "bad" kind needs to be fiddled with or, as I have experienced, may need modification to work.
