Description

Im trying to use Chirp to program my Icom IC-2820h, i get this error message when i try to read from the radio:

[Errno 13] could not open port /dev/ttyS0: [Errno 13] Permission denied: ‘/dev/ttyS0’

im using an XLT RPC-Y1-UF Painless Programming Cable! similar to the RT systems FTDI cord.

If you are using a USB type programming cable, then the port to select is "/dev/ttyUSB0" (scroll all the way down to the bottom of the list).

Also your Manjaro "user" must be a member or the "dialout" group. See the "Running Under Linux" page. And don't forget to log out and back in for the group change to take effect.

Thank Jim! that worked like a charm once i went in as root and added myself to the uucp group!
